5/14: test review

~democracy- the people's assembly and the tribunes
~aristocracy- the senate: approximately 300 members
~originally the US modeled their new government on the model used by the ancient romans
~both have three branches of government: executive, legislative, judicial; both have illegal code
~supreme court with nine members elect on court and get a lifetime term
~the twelve tables were biblically displayed in the forum. they gave rights to plebeians not just the        aristocrats. they only protected free-born male citizens. this excluded all women.
~5000 soldiers, not in it for the pay. the roman army elite heavy infantry
~second tunic war was from 218-201 BCE. a 29 year old Carthaginian general Hannibal almost done the impossible: taking Rome and attacks them from the north after crossing Liberia.
~Rome wanted to finally remove the threat of Carthage
~scipio, Tuberous gracious and the others mercilessly attacked the city
