day 7

i believe that the United states is headed toward a decline sort of like the roman empire. although, most would not agree because they only look at the good things that are happening in out country today instead of all the awful stuff that is going on almost behind the scenes. the only way that we would be able to not have this happen is if the scholars and and strategist use their powers to help. we have a lot of similarities and difference between the united states and the roman republic. one of the main things is that both had problems differentiating between public and private responsibilities and public and private resources. because of this, public services declined while the pockets of the public officials are large at their expense of common citizens. other similarity is the foreign wars. America has been preoccupied with wars. this included either fighting the actual war, recovering for the war and even preparing for the next. the romans middle class was crushed by cheap overseas slave labor. the rising income inequality due to technological change and the transfer of jobs to overseas labor threatens the middle class of America today. this is another similarity. we saw it back then and now are starting to see it happen again today. there is also a huge loss of political compromise. everybody wants something different and the main person in charge of the idea will not offer a compromise with what the other think but yet just make the decision fir themselves because it i what they want and most of the time it is not the best idea. therefor to conclude, i say yes, the united states is showing signs of decline like the roman empire faced back then.
