geography--> the study of where things are fund on the earths surface and the reasons for their
locations and why any are there
human geographers:
1. where are people and activities found on the earth?
2. why are they found there?
--> a map is 2 dimensional or flat scale model of earths surface, or portion of it
--> cartography is the science of mapmaking
a map serves two purposes:
1. as a reference tool to identify an objects absolute at relative locations
2. as a communication tool to covey thew distribution of human activities or features
